Vases

Making vases to try out these new crystal matte glazes, and also I really want to throw big "egg" shaped vessels with long spouts in porcelain one day soon.  Right now, I'm working with half and half because my studio doesn't carry porcelain. As for big "egg" shaped vases, I think I'm about 1/3 of the way there.  The top picture is 2 kilos. and about 12 inches tall. I'd love to get to about 2 1/2 feet tall.

Crystals at Salon du Flame

Two small lidded jars that have a crystal matte glaze on them. The Green/blue is called Sado Matte and the red is called Tetsu Aka. I really like them both and they have inspired me to try out these glazes on some vase shapes. I am using these glazes at my new studio that I just transfered to, it's closer to home, it's much bigger, and more modern, and it has glazes that I really like. This place is called Salon du Flame. I already really love the place.

Cups.

...From the show.

Teapots,

Some teapots, and one Hyotan shaped bowl from the show. I think I made 12 or 13 teapots and all but three were sold. Not bad I think, especially considering the possible hurdles there might have been to selling teapots. The first one actually sold in like the first 4 hours. I think it's gong to be a popular shape.  I love making teapots by the way, it's one of my favorite shapes, so I decided early on to have a teapot themed show.  I also made about 20-something cups in pairs to go with everything, but unfortunately almost none of them were out of the kiln in time for the show. So, I got some good practice making yunomi, I'll post some of those next. But anyways, I've got some nice cups lying around now, maybe they'll make it to the next show.

My show at Rafu, in Urawa.

I had a show that lasted the month of January. I can happily say it was a Huge success. I sold all but about 12 pieces out of 50-odd pieces. here are some picts.
